PROJECTS

THE CLIENT

Telecommunication Services Social Entrepreneur

Nandi Nkosi is a South-African social entrepreneur in the telecommunication solutions service industry, who is passionate about building a seamless communication platform for small businesses to help them get more customers and capture valuable leads.

After four years in business, and seeing steady user growth, Nandi came to us to help her design a strategic investor presentation to raise funding for an app that will serve as a platform to expand CMQ’s strategic options.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

SCOPE:  The first part of the project was to understand the current status quo and map out the company’s industry landscape and unique selling proposition vs. competitors.

Next, was to outline the components of a strategic investor presentation that would serve as a starting point in the negotiation process with potential strategic partners and investors interested to team up with CMQ and bring the strategic vision forward.

The presentation outline included references to CMQ’s value creation map, value proposition, KPIs, customer journey map and the strategic business case (Business Model, Value Proposition Design) for investing in an app.

This is what Nandi had to say after working with us:

The team at StartupHQ did a fantastic job with my investor presentation!

They are seasoned experts in investor presentations and business strategy with great graphic design skills.

Overall I had a great experience, they were very professional, had great communication skills, and everything was delivered on time.

I am very pleased with the end result, and would definitely recommend them!”

StartupHQ: Why did you need a strategic investor presentation at this stage of your business?

Nandi: After many conversations and much back and forth with my business partner about our next steps and the strategic direction we want to take our company in, we realized we bounced off ideas but had no specific way to capture our thoughts and hypothesis.  After doing some online research, we decided it’s time to create a strategic investor presentation so that we are able to take our internal discussions forward and start looking for strategic business partners and investors for the next stage of our business.

StartupHQ: What was your biggest struggle in communicating your vision?

Nandi: I am an engineer by training and see things in clear black and white terms. That is good for taking swift decisions, but it can feel a bit linear when communicating my vision to my team and potential business partners.

I realized that I needed to bring in someone with a mix of business strategy and design expertise to help translate my thinking into a visually appealing strategic document that would make potential business partners and investors immediately understand my vision for the future of the company.

I am so relieved I found you guys and took the leap of hiring StartupHQ to write & design my strategic investor presentation from scratch and now I can confidently use the presentation to articulate my vision and paint the future I see for my company going forward.

StartupHQ: Why did you ultimately decide to work with StartupHQ?

Nandi: Initially I booked a Biz Hours Call to discuss my company’s current stage of development and see if there is a good match to collaborate on developing a strategic investor presentation that would explain to potential business partners and investors where we aim to be in the next 5 years or so.

We had a great call and I immediately decided to go forward and book StartupHQ to work on a strategic investor presentation that will outline our current status and future business plans.

I was impressed by the mix of strategic business know-how and graphic design skills that helped me translate my vision and thoughts into a solid strategic presentation.

IMPACT

SMEs are the driving force for South Africa's economy

SME’s in South Africa represent more than 98% of the total active businesses and employ between 50-60% of the workforce, representing a powerful growth engine for the economy.

CMQ’s telecommunication services are critical for the daily operations of these small businesses and ensure that critical communication and payment infrastructure are in place.

This infrastructure enables many women-owned SMEs in South Africa, representing some 38% of total SMEs, to build sustainable livelihoods that lift their families out of poverty and provide their communities with resources for education, healthcare, and social development.
